
Due the success of the first WestXpress short film and acoustic night held in April 2007, young filmmakers Rumble Pictures with Fairfield’s Powerhouse Youth Theatre (PYT) produced the youth event, WestXpress 2 which was held at the PYT School of Arts on Saturday 8th September 07.
Local talent was the driving force behind this amazing event, which showcased young artists, musicians and performers from Fairfield.
“The diversity of the acts and films is amazing, and it’s awesome as the whole event is created and run by young people,” said Co-ordinator Maria Tran.
Hosting a number a number of short films from local production groups such as 9 Lives and Komaticom, WestXpress 2 premiered the break-up comedy "More Than Words" by local award winning director, Timothy Ly.
Once again we were swooned by the hypnotic sounds of the acoustic duo 'The Closet Romantics' and other musical acts as they performed in the intimate venue.
There also held a gallery with artworks on display for people to take a wander inside the gallery and see the works from creative young artists
The chatter amongst the shifting crowds was ambient with white noise perfectly associated with a scene where something big was to be unveiled. This scene was to be the talent filled showcase: WestXpress 2
It's finally great to see things like these start to emerge out of the Western areas of Sydney community. Events which really give young artists a platform to showcase what they're about.
