YOUNG film maker Timothy Ly cleaned up at the National Talent Competition for his short film promoting Clean Up Australia Day.

The film From Carramar to Cabramatta was shot during Clean Up Australia Day when Ly and a handful of mates, who make up the local film group Rumble Pictures, collected rubbish to do their bit to keep the area beautiful.

“A group of us wanted to get involved with the day so we thought we’d take the opportunity to make the film,” Ly said.

Starting off at Carramar Railway Station, the group wound their way across the bridge, pass Canley Vale High School until they arrived at Freedom Plaza, Cabramatta.

On the way back the group stopped to shoot the film.

Mr Ly shot the film which starred Ryan Peters, and was part of National Youth Week in April.

For winning the competition’s ShootIT category, Mr Ly and the team from Rumble Pictures won a share in $75,000 worth of prizes including camera equipment.

Mr Ly said he wanted to make a career in filmmaking.

“I want to direct feature films eventually,” he said.

Ly has already made two films Maximum Choppage and the sequel Maximum Choppage 2.

“I like martial arts and action films, so ideally those are the kind of films I’d like to make,” he said.
