MAXIMUM Choppage 2 is the second film from director Timothy Ly.

He won the Powerhouse Youth Theatre Shortcut film award for the prequel Maximum Choppage in 2003.

The second film furthers the adventures of a teenage martial arts legend, Tim (played by Ly), from Fairfield.

But this time he is in a spot of bother with the ladies. To add to his troubles, the defeated champion from the first film is out for revenge, after Tim beat him in a martial arts showdown at the end of the film.

The films are an amusing tribute to the martial arts films of the 1980s.

The film’s production assistant and media manager, Maria Tran, said production had grown significantly since the first film.

“The first film was shot by four people. Now we have a volunteer crew of nearly 50. We all are playing a number of roles both on and off screen,” she said.

“It has been a real learning curve for us all.”

The film is shooting at various locations in and around Fairfield.

Maximum Choppage 2 is due to be completed in June.

The filmmakers are hoping to hold a premiere in Fairfield.
