No grumble from Rumble

Timothy Ly

ARE you an actor, writer or filmmaker? Fairfield director Timothy Ly, 22, is encouraging other young and arty locals to get involved with his Cabramatta-based creative company Rumble Pictures.

He created it in 2003 while writing, directing and acting in his fourth short film, the martial arts-inspired Maximum Choppage, to be released next year.

“We’re a bunch of 25 youths who are into film and art and we express ourselves through that,” he said. “We’re all from western Sydney and the majority of us are locals who meet once a fortnight.”

In his last semester studying for a digital video production diploma at Qantm College, Surry Hills, Timothy is working on a new project.

He is organising a short film and youth event called West Xpress 2 that will show plays, songs, an art exhibition and short films at Powerhouse Youth Theatre in Fairfield. The exact date in August has yet to be set.

Rumble Pictures is seeking volunteers to help on the night or artists to perform or show their work.
